UTHM RESEARCH PRODUCTS RECEIVE WORLD RECOGNITION Alexandra Palace, London – UTHM research products continue to receive international recognition when four of them bagged gold (3) and silver (1) medals at the British Invention, Innovation and Technology Show 2008 (BIS’08) which was held from 15 to 18 October 2008 at the Alexandra Palace, London. The success is even sweeter when a product called Modified Grouting Polymer (M.G.P) by Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Idrus bin Mohd Masirin won the Special Award-Double Gold for the consumer category.Another product, Solar CHEF, a cooking utensil that uses solar energy which received a gold medal was given live media coverage in the United Kingdom by BBC London. This is our first participation at BIS’08 and our achievement has shown that our research products are of quality and are beginning to get recognitions at the international level. Thus far in 2008 alone we have won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals in two international research competitions. The Research Management and Innovation Centre and the whole University would like to congratulate all the winners and everyone who have participated in BIS’08. Hopefully this sweet success will be an inspiration to all the researchers to work hard and give their full commitment in producing world-class research products. The winners are as follows:
