UTHM Awarded The Best Agency for 1st Phase SAGA
UTHM is one of the selected agencies in the first phase of the SAGA Expansion Project under the Accountant General's Department of Malaysia in 2005 together with another 11 Federal Statutory Bodies including Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Kemubu Agricultural and Development Authority (KADA), Southeast Johor Development Authority (KEJORA), National Tobacco Board (LTN), National Art Gallery (BSLN), Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK), Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), Co-operative College of Malaysia (MKM), National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) and Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA).
SAGA is a computerized accounting package designed to fulfill the needs of all financial organization systems. The SAGA usage in UTHM has become one of the important steps for the University to achieve excellent management in organizing its financial and accounting system. At the same time, it can also enhance and expedite the process of financial report preparation for other important organizations, such as the Ministry of Higher Education, Treasury, University's Board of Directors and others. This system is created not only to help the University attains its accountability but also to provide financial performance information in a specific time period.
Currently, there are 27 Departments in UTHM that use SAGA system in their daily work management. UTHM is also known as the most active agency to use the system's user license compared to other agencies. 125 licenses have been used in all 27 Departments where they can access the SAGA system without any problems. This system also improves the quality and efficiency in financial management and organization, especially to accelerate payment process and allocation distribution.
In the ceremony, Dato' Mohd Salleh bin Mahmud took the opportunity to congratulate all the 12 agencies that participated in the first phase of the SAGA Expansion Project on their success in facing all the challenges to ensure the successful implementation of the SAGA system.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd. Noh Dalimin said in his speech, "I hope that the Accountant General's Department will keep on giving its best consultation and support in any other forms of services needed in helping and coordinating consumer agencies to overcome any problems or difficulties faced by them".
