Introduction

Diploma programmes has been offered at UTHM since the creation of PLSP in 1994. Only three programmes were offered then. Diploma programmes were administered by the relevant departments at that time. Later on when KUiTTHO was established in 2001, the programmes were transferred under the faculties. Centre for Diploma Studies or PPD was only recently announced by the Vice Chancellor. This centre was created in view of providing a common administrative centre for all diploma programmes so that they can be enhanced to be more competitive amongst diploma programmes offered by other institutions. It is hoped that this centre would be able to bring up the diploma programmes to a level that candidates would make these programmes as their first choice during application to enter higher learning institutions.

At this very moment PPD is still in the process of its formation. PPD will be launched before the end of 2009. 

Administration of PPD

PPD will be housed at the newly renovated SQ Block which is situated across the road near C15 Block and the Food Arcade in UTHM main campus. PPD administration office will occupy the ground floor. The rest of the building will house the International Office (occupying the first floor) and lecturers for PPD. The Dean of PPD has been appointed to lead the formation of PPD. He is assisted by an assistant registrar and four clerical staffs. More staffs will later join PPD such as the Deputy Dean, Heads of Departments and more administrative staffs after it has been officially launched.

Programmes Offered

At this moment seven diploma programmes are being offered. Two programmes are being offered by each engineering faculties namely FKAAS, FKEE and FKMP. Another programme is offered by FTMM. All the programmes are still being managed and administered by the faculties. The process of transferring the programmes will take place when PPD has been officially launched by the end of 2009. More programmes are to be offered during the first three years of Centre for Diploma Studies existence.

Lets Join PPD

Since the Diploma programmes are already in the offering, UTHM would like to invite potential candidates to apply for these programmes. UTHM is offering the best Diploma programmes and furthermore after graduation the Diploma graduates are eligible to apply direct to further their study into the relevant Degree programmes at UTHM. Special considerations are given to UTHM Diploma graduates to enter UTHM Degree programmes.
