JOHOR BAHRU 30 Oct. - Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) researchers  managed to bring home 6 awards at the British Invention Show 2009 held at the Alexandra Palace, London from 13 to 17 October 2009.

UTHM Public Relations Officer, Shafry Salim said Sand3-Siever, a research product by Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Idrus Mohd. Masirin, as the head researcher won a platinum award and a gold award.

 "This product saves time, energy and cost in processing concrete and other materials with high specifications at the construction sites," he said.

Mohd. Idrus also won a double gold award and a gold award for his product called Bio-Metclean

"Bio-Metclean is produced from natural materials which help in the cleaning and shining process of materials made of silver and bronze," he added.

Besides, research products by the Deputy Director (Innovation), Research and Innovation Centre, Dr. Christy P. Gomez also received recognition.  His product Lean Com2 Toolkit won a gold award while another poduct Web LQMF received a silver award.

Researchers from various countries like Iran, Russia, United States of America, China, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan participated in the British Invention Show 2009 with more than 200 research and innovation products from various fields being contested.

Shafry also said that this achievement is very meaningful to UTHM as it helps to bring up UTHM's name as one of the institutions of higher learning that excel in research and innovation.
