MUKAH, 3 Apr. - Centre of Alumni Advancement and Relations (CARE) UTHM started the year of 2010 with Program Jejak Alumni in Mukah, Sarawak on 3 April 2010. Every state is given the opportunity to take turns every three years to organise this program and the cost of the program will be supported by the University and donations from various parties including UTHM Alumni.
UTHM delegates, led by Dr. Asri bin Selamat, Director of Counselling and Students Development Centre, who represented the Vice Chancellor, accompanied by Dr. Mohamad Hisyam bin Mohamad Hashim as the Director of CARE UTHM, together with a number of University officers attended the program.
During the program, the delegates visited Mukah Polytechnic to meet the alumni members of UTHM who work there as well as interviewed some of the students. A few meeting sessions and recorded interviews were also conducted as a reflection towards the development of UTHM alumni members who are at present, in the middle of the society, contributing to our country. Besides interviewing the respective alumni members, the secretariat had also interviewed the Vice Director (Academic Support) of Mukah Polytechnic.
A dinner was also organised at Kingwood Hotel, Mukah and was participated by sixty UTHM Alumni members. In order to promote UTHM, twenty final year students of Mukah Polytechnic were also invited. Mr Khairul Nizam bin Morshidi, the official representative of ADUN Jemoreng cum political secretary of the Chief Minister of Sarawak also attended the dinner. In his opening speech, he stated that, "The presence of UTHM alumni members in Mukah, Sarawak who are mostly working as lecturers at Mukah Polytechnic has given a positive impact in educating the local society via knowledge-sharing. In fact, the existence of Mukah Polytechnic has vastly developed the city".
